香港報業公會主席 甘煥騰先生獻辭 去年，全球金融海嘯對世界經濟影響仍未消退，報業經營面對悲喜交集：悲是年初業界經歷嚴峻的經營困難，令到部分報紙要瘦身節流，以度難關；喜的是整體經濟形勢於下半年度有所改善，各行各業不同程度回復活力，報紙同業亦克服了困難呈現生機，維持一貫的專業水準，證明香港報業具有靈活應變的適應能力。祝願同業在新的一年有更大的發展。 我們表彰零九年度香港最佳新聞獎獲選作品，以鼓勵新聞從業員克盡職守，努力進取，不斷提高專業水平，繼續為社會大眾提供優質的資訊，進一步提升報業的影響力，推動社會進步。本屆新聞獎獲獎作品內容豐富，涉及面廣，反映業界水平提高。較為突出的是顯現人本關懷的主題作品佔有相當份量，表現新聞記者關懷社會，與大眾息息相關，有利警醒執政者關注民生和公平和諧社會的建立。 在此，我代表報業公會感謝為「香港最佳新聞獎」評選付出辛勞的評審委員。 感謝支持香港最佳新聞獎活動的贊助機構 Keith Kam
As the aftermath of the financial tsunami continued to impact the global economy, the newspaper industry faced a complex operating environment in 2009 in which grief and joy intermingled. In the first half of the year, the industry encountered grave difficulties that forced some newspapers to downsize their operations to get through a very stressful period. In the second half, the economy began to show signs of improvement. As different business sectors recovered their vitality to varying degrees, newspapers were able to breathe a sigh of relief. Coming out of the recession, they have continued to uphold their consistently high professional standards, confirming their agile ability to adapt to changing circumstances. I sincerely hope that members of the industry will make great strides this year. We recognize the winning entries of the Hong Kong News Awards 2009 with a view to encouraging our journalists to uphold their professional responsibilities, strive for excellence, provide the public with quality information, enhance the social influence of the newspaper industry and propel social progress. The contents and scope of this year's entries are rich and broad. They show that the industry's standards are getting higher and higher. It is significant to note that the themes of many entries are about human caring. They are a reflection of our journalists' concern for the less privileged members of the community. Their works are conducive to reminding the authorities to pay heed to people's livelihood, social justice and establishing a harmonious society. On behalf of The Newspaper Society of Hong Kong, I would like to express our gratitude to the judges for their hard work in making the Hong Kong News Awards a success. My sincere thanks to all the sponsors, newspapers and participants. My heart felt congratulations to all the award winners.
