　　香港報業公會每年舉辦的「香港最佳新聞獎」，是香港最嚴謹和最具代表性的新聞評選活動，由專業評審委員會篩選年度傑出的新聞作品，嘉許優秀的新聞從業員，從而提升專業水平，激勵業界精益求精。

　　為了表彰在獨家新聞採訪作出努力的新聞工作者，今年增設了最佳獨家新聞報道獎，獎項總數增至六十五項，涵蓋了報業傳媒大部分領域。

　　隨著科技突飛猛進，傳媒行業已趨多元化，以迎合社會及大眾的不同需求。傳媒影響著整個社會，希望業界在執行編採工作時繼續堅守不偏不倚、探索求真的專業精神。2008奧運會今夏在中國舉辦，是國際矚目的盛事，將為香港新聞界提供大展身手的機會。

　　謹此向「2007年香港最佳新聞獎」各位得獎人士致以衷心的祝賀，亦感謝新聞獎評審委員會全體成員的辛勤工作和業界及社會人士的熱心支持和參與。

Message from the Chairman

    　　The Hong Kong News Awards organized annually by the Newspaper Society of Hong Kong aim to recognize outstanding journalists and encourage them to strive for ever higher standards. With judging panels comprising veteran media practitioners, leading academics and accomplished business professionals, the competition is the most authoritative of its kind in Hong Kong.

    　　This year, we have introduced a new award for Best Scoop to honour journalists who break stories of significance. The additional awards have boosted the total number of prizes to 65, which cover most areas of the news industry.

    　　With the rapid advancement of technology, the media industry has becoming increasingly diversified. In trying to satisfy the needs of different readers, the media also wields great influence on the society as a whole. Society, We hope that media practitioners will abide by the spirit of fairness and truthfulness in discharging their responsibility of informing the public. The Beijing Olympic Games to be held in summer will be a golden opportunity for the Hong Kong media to demonstrate its resourcefulness.

    　　I take this opportunity to congratulate all the winners of Hong Kong News Awards 2007. I would also like to thank the judges for their hard work and fellow members of the media for their support and participation.
