欣悉本屆香港最佳新聞獎得獎名單已經公布，謹向各位得獎者衷心致賀。
香港報業公會每年舉辦香港最佳新聞獎，旨在表揚新聞從業員過去一年的傑出表現，並藉此鼓勵業界不斷提升專業水平，報道時事做到客觀持平，分析議題能夠透徹精闢。
二零一四年，香港發生了不少具新聞價值的事件。這些事件不但為本地市民所關心，更吸引了內地、整個華人世界，以至國際社會的目光，為本地記者帶來嚴峻的考驗，也使本地傳媒的報道受到更廣泛的關注。
同時，資訊科技不斷進步，使傳媒的報道無遠弗屆。香港報刊的讀者，已經不再限於本地，而是遍及全球。香港最佳新聞獎的意義，早已超越地域，各位脫穎而出的得獎者，更應倍感自豪。
新聞自由是香港成功的基石。政府會一如既往，致力確保本港的媒體環境不受干預，保障社會各界自由地就各種議題交流意見的權利。
傳媒工作任重道遠，願業內同寅今後繼續互勵互勉，自強不息。

My sincere congratulations to all winners of the Hong Kong News Awards 2014.
The Hong Kong News Awards presented by The Newspaper Society of Hong Kong provides an annual opportunity to acknowledge the outstanding work of journalists in the past year. It is also an event to reaffirm the importance of objective reporting and in-depth analysis in pursuing journalistic professionalism.
In 2014, many newsworthy incidents took place in Hong Kong. These incidents were not only the focus of public concern, but also held the attention of people in the Mainland, the global Chinese community and international society. The local media was presented with huge challenges as all eyes were attracted to their news reports like never before.
At the same time, advances in information technology have rendered no place too far away for news reports to reach. Hong Kong newspapers are no longer read by readers in Hong Kong only, but by readers around the world. That brings the significance of the Hong Kong News Awards to a level that has transcended geographical boundaries, and all winners of the awards can be rightly proud of their achievements.
Freedom of the press is the cornerstone of Hong Kong’s success. The Government remains committed as always to protecting the free and unfettered media environment in Hong Kong and everyone’s right to freely exchange ideas on all kinds of issues in the community.
Journalists shoulder heavy responsibilities and undertake arduous tasks. May this drive for excellence stay with you always and lead every one of you from strength to strength.
