　　香港作為國際都會，全賴一套行之有效的卓越制度，讓資訊得以自由地交流。一年一度舉行的「最佳新聞獎」正好為此作見證，並表彰新聞工作者的專業知識和操守。同時，為鼓勵高質素的新聞報導及標題寫作，語文教育及研究常務委員會連續三年從語文基金撥款，贊助「最佳新聞寫作獎」的項目，以提升新聞工作者對寫作水平的重視，並嘉許優秀的新聞工作者。

　　我衷心感謝香港報業公會多年來對社會所作的貢獻，並祝願今屆各個最佳新聞獎項的得主，繼續發揮專業和拼搏精神，為香港的傳媒事業努力。

    Hong Kong, as an international city, takes pride in her well established infrastructure which allows free flow of information. The Hong Kong News Awards not only amplifies this infrastructure, but gives credits to the professionalism and knowledge of journalists. Moreover, in order to encourage high quality news story and headline writing, the Standing Committee on Language Education and Research has for the third consecutive year allocated funds from the Language Fund to sponsor the Writing Section of the Awards for raising the awareness of journalists towards good writing and for commending good journalists.

    My sincere thanks to the Newspaper Society of Hong Kong for its contribution to the community over the years. I congratulate all award winners and wish that they will continue to uphold their professionalism and strive for the betterment of the media industry in Hong Kong.
