　　香港作为国际都会，全赖一套行之有效的卓越制度，让资讯得以自由地交流。一年一度举行的「最佳新闻奖」正好为此作见证，并表彰新闻工作者的专业知识和操守。同时，为鼓励高质素的新闻报导及标题写作，语文教育及研究常务委员会连续三年从语文基金拨款，赞助「最佳新闻写作奖」的项目，以提升新闻工作者对写作水平的重视，并嘉许优秀的新闻工作者。

　　我衷心感谢香港报业公会多年来对社会所作的贡献，并祝愿今届各个最佳新闻奖项的得主，继续发挥专业和拼搏精神，为香港的传媒事业努力。

    Hong Kong, as an international city, takes pride in her well established infrastructure which allows free flow of information. The Hong Kong News Awards not only amplifies this infrastructure, but gives credits to the professionalism and knowledge of journalists. Moreover, in order to encourage high quality news story and headline writing, the Standing Committee on Language Education and Research has for the third consecutive year allocated funds from the Language Fund to sponsor the Writing Section of the Awards for raising the awareness of journalists towards good writing and for commending good journalists.

    My sincere thanks to the Newspaper Society of Hong Kong for its contribution to the community over the years. I congratulate all award winners and wish that they will continue to uphold their professionalism and strive for the betterment of the media industry in Hong Kong.
